Elephant falls that is situated on the outer reaches of the main city of Shillong, it is a two-tier waterfall. The two falls that even enhance its beauty are known as the Wir Phang Falls and the Wei Iaplam Falls.
It was known as the ‘Elephant Falls’ because a stone near the falls looked like an elephant. The stone was torn down by an earthquake in the year 1897, but the name has struck from that time only.

The Lady Hydari park that is a child-themed park derives its name from the wife of the first governor of Assam, Lay Hydari. It is established and maintained by the forest department this park even incorporates a mini zoo, open area for children to play and a deer park.
The vast stretches of rose beds make it beautiful. The park has been designed in a Japanese style, as there are various elements like the small ponds, willow trees and rhododendron plants which remind one of the garden styles of Japan.

The surrounding area is filled with pine and some other evergreen trees and even carries a lot of photographic value. As of now, tourists are not allowed to go to this fall due to the steep path and slippery stones all around.
